Elephant

I am a majestic animal of yore

many a fable were written about me in lore

I am the king of the forest in reality

the master of everything and they swear fealty

But the humans have taken away my habitat

and built them over with this and that

Oh where is my waterhole?

The men have taken over on the whole

Where is are the grasslands and woods

they have become storehouses for human goods.

What am I to do when there is nothing to eat and drink

but attack the humans and create a stink

I have stooped to stealing from them

when I should be treated as a gem.
