நம் மக்கள் எத்தன பேருக்கு தெரியும் ஏஞ்செலா - தீபா syndrome  பத்தி, நம்முடைய கல்லூரி நாட்களில் அவுங்க ரெண்டு பெரும் பக்கத்துல உக்காந்து இருந்தா நம்மால ரொம்ப நேரம் உக்கார முடியாது, அவுங்க பாட்டுக்கு ஆங்கிலத்துல பேசிகிட்டு இருப்பாங்க, நாம என்னமோ ஆங்கில படம் பாக்குற மாதிரி உணர்வுதான் ஏற்படும். அந்த syndrome  இப்ப எங்க வீடுகுள்ளேயும் வந்துடுச்சு. நேத்து நான் வேள முடிஞ்சி வீட்டுக்குள்ள நுழையும்போது பொடிசு அக்ஷயாவும் காயத்ரியும் என்னமோ ஆங்கிலத்துல பேசிகிட்டு இருந்தாங்க, என்னம்மா செல்லங்களா ஆங்கிலத்துல பேசுறீங்க, வீட்டுக்குள்ள தமிழுல பேசக்கூடாதா என்று கேட்டேன், அக்ஷயா உடனே "இல்லப்பா அம்மாவுக்கும் உங்களுக்கும் விஷயம் தெரியகூடாதுன்னுதான் நாங்க ஆங்கிலத்துல பேசுறோம்" என்கிறாள். இதுல மோகன் சதீஷ் மாதிரி கார்த்திகேயனும் அப்பப்ப கலந்துகொண்டு ஆங்கிலத்துல பேசி எங்கள கலாய்ச்சுகிட்டு இருக்காங்க.

என்னுடைய அந்த காதல் இன்னும் பசுமரத்தாணி போல் இதயத்தில் ஒட்டிக்கொண்டுள்ளது, அனேகமாக கல்லூரியில் நான்காம் ஆண்டு படிக்கும்போது  என நினைக்கிறேன், ஒரு விழாவில் அவளை பார்த்தேன், சில வினாடிகள் அல்லது மைக்ரோ வினாடிகள் என்றுகூட சொல்லலாம், அப்படியே இதயத்தில் பச்சை குதிதியதுபோல் அந்த முகம் ஒட்டிக்கொண்டது, பேசவோ, நன்றாக பார்க்கவோ போதிய தருணம் இல்லையென்றாலும், என்னுள்ளே புகுந்து ஏதேதோ செய்ய தொடக்கி விட்டாள் அந்த கண்ணிமைக்கும் நேரத்திற்குள்...அதன் பின அவளை எங்குமே பார்க்க முடியவில்லை, அவளை பார்த்த கணம் முதல் பார்க்கும் பெண் எல்லாம் சகோதரியாகவே தெரிகிறாள். என்ன மாற்றம் என்னுள், அதுவரை காட்டாறாக கட்டற்று துள்ளித்திரிந்த நானா இப்படி, வருடங்கள் உருண்டன ஆனால் அந்த முகம் மட்டும் மறக்கவில்லை, கல்லூரி படிப்பு முடிந்து வேலை, எந்த  வேளையிலும் அவள் முகம் மட்டுமே என்னுள், வீட்டில் திருமண பேச்சு எழும்போது மனதிற்குள் வலி, அவள் முகத்தை எப்படி அழிப்பது என் இதயத்திலிருந்து, அந்த முகம் பச்சை குத்தப்பட்டுள்ளதல்லவா, வேறு வழியில்லை ஒப்புக்கொண்டே ஆக வேண்டும், சரி பெண் பாருங்கள், நான் பெண்ணை பார்க்க மாட்டேன் நீங்களே முடிவு செய்யுங்கள் என பாதி மனதுடன் ஒப்புக்கொண்டேன், பெண்ணின் புகைப்படம் பார் என நீட்டினார்கள், பார்க்காமலே பிடிக்க வில்லை என்றேன், அதெல்லாம் முடியாது இவள்தான் உன் மனைவி என நான் முடிவு செய்துவிட்டேன் என்றார் தாய், சரி என்றேன். நீ பார்க்க வில்லையென்றால் பரவாயில்லை, அந்த பெண் உன்னை பார்க்கவேண்டுமல்லவா அதனால் நாம் சென்று பெண்ணை பார்க்கவேண்டும் என்றார், சரி என்றேன், இப்போதும் பெண்ணை பார்க்கவில்லை, இருந்தாலும் சரி என்றேன், அவளுக்கும் உன்னை பிடித்து விட்டது, இன்னும் மூன்று மாதத்தில் திருமணம் என்றார்கள், மனதே இல்லாமல் ஒப்புக்கொண்டேன்,இதயத்தில் இருப்பவளை எந்த ரப்பர் கொண்டு அழிப்பது, முடியாத காரியம். திருமணநாள் வந்தது, வேண்டா வெறுப்பாக மணவறையில் அவளருகில் நான், தாலி கட்டும் நேரம் , இனிமேலும் தப்பிக்க வழியில்லை, சரி வாழ்நாள் முழுதும் சேர்ந்து வாழப்போகிறவளின் முகத்தை இப்போதாவது பார்ப்போம், அதிர்ந்தேன் அவள் அவளேதான் என்னுடைய மைக்ரோ வினாடி தேவதை, என்னருகில், இவளைத்தானே இத்தனை நாள் மருகி மருகி காதலித்தேன், அவளே என்னருகில், என் வாழ்கை துணையாய், இந்த காதல் இன்றும் என்றென்றும் குறையாமல், அக்ஷய பாத்திரமாய்.....இந்த காதல் தொடரும் என்றென்றும் .......

Odds and Ends

These are just random memories I have of our college so I am posting them:

1.Chockan is correct, I think he is a wonderful,talented person.The Anatomy lab forged a special bond among all of us.It had Chandran, Chitra(Pottu), Chitra (Thups), Chocks,David Suresh and I. I will never forget when Chandran identified a Kidney as a Scrotum.I never let him forget it till final year.

2.I think a lot of people were a victim of my pen borrowing habit. I always had no pen when it came to an exam and the most affected were usually  Bama and Pottu Chitra. After borrowing the pen I would promptly lose their pen too. So to all my victims Sorry.

3.I have wonderful memories of Pallu Jayaraman. He and I became good friends during the ward years. He would hang out with me a lot and tell me horrifying stories of female infanticide in Madurai with paddy put down the trachea of the female child, stories of ghosts haunting the Anatomy building in our college and so on. I miss him a lot. It is a very sad loss indeed.

Finally, I bought a new car for my self. An Acura MDX. Cant wait to drive it.

BTW I miss Bhai a whole bunch.
A very Happy New Year to you all. I will going to Delaware for five days and will meet Gujili too. More after I return, till then keep blogging,

Is there any truth to this?

When we were in LPM labs some of our classmates mentioned that in order to get rid of their moles they had to use the குதிரையின் வால் முடி. One is supposed to take one hair out of the horse's tail, place it around the base of the mole and tie a knot tight around it and apparently it would fall off. If one uses the hair of any other species it apparently does not work as well. So according to some of our classmates there were certain fellows trying to pluck a hair out of some of the NCC horses'tails that were kept in the stables at MVC. I don't know if they got kicked or not.
Alternatively another method that was suggested involved the use of liquid nitrogen from AGB AI clinics that was used to store the frozen straws. Some of our classmates claimed that using a bit of the liquid nitrogen on the mole would remove it in a fast and painless manner. The rumor was someone in our AB batch actually used this and got rid of their mole. Perhaps some of our readers could give more details on the story.

CONGENITAL

This is the right eye of a new born foal(foaled last night), he is blind on both eyes, i searched everywhere to get a reference on this condition(there is no cornea), i could not get anything, i shall be happy if anyone can tell me what exactly  the condition is.

On Brucellosis, infatuation and miscellaneous

Regarding Brucellosis..
Apparently the incidence of brucellosis in cattle in the U.S is less than 0.014%. There are massive vaccination regimens for it and hence the low incidence. But the reports stated that there was minimal incidence only because of the lack of vaccination. Apparently the incidence in elks is higher. As for treatments they give them antibiotics but I could not find much literature on this. Perhaps karayaan could do some case studies with his treatment regimen (the Kumaran treatment) and publish on that.

On infatuation and love, some clarifications..
GFK is correct in the comment section in that infatuations are temporary while love lasts. Also what starts out as infatuation can lead to lasting love. But there are some scientific studies out there that state the levels of dopamine the "feel good" neurotransmitter  are quite high and gives the person a natural "high" that they are floating on cloud nine. Dopamine is low in patients with Parkinson's disease which I am sure our readers know. Infatuation is sometimes the part that starts the romantic love where one's heart is beating super fast when they see the person they are infatuated with, palms are sweaty and they are totally absent-minded, do stupid stuff and one feels like they are falling into this deep chasm (perhaps that is why it is called "falling" in love!!). Some of this is from personal experience of course, but mine turned into marriage!! Once again GFK can attest to this kaadhal experience and those of us who are in the marital relationship out of parental arrangements can also attest to that in the beginning of their marriage. But once it turns into true love (which some infatuations do not reach) then there is calmness and security and trust about it.  I don't do justice to the true differences but that is my feeble attempt at clarifying it. The bad part about infatuation - when it turns into an obsession then it can become dangerous!!

Some miscellaneous things..
Because it is Christmas season now people here are obsessed with gift-giving. The commercialization of this whole operation makes me sick! I am perfectly fine with giving gifts to kids but not for adults. We are so blessed now where we have food and shelter and don't need all these gifts. We don't have room to put them, sometimes we don't even take the tags off the clothes that we get or get the package open. Coming from Desam where I see vast need everywhere I feel terrible buying and giving gifts to all the adults that don't need it when there is so much need back home. So, some of the adult members of our family decided not to exchange gifts. I am glad about this decision and hopefully they will donate some of those funds to the really needy folks.

Philly.. the adventures.

The last two weeks have been like a suzhal kaatru... crazy busy. But like our friends say there is no excuse for it. Some interesting happenings in Philadelphia (philly for short) in the city of brotherly love (that is the meaning of the word) to me are worth mentioning. I was staying in a hotel that was offering free shuttle to the airport. Since the conference was in the middle of the city where parking is a nightmare I decided to park the car at the airport and take the SEPTA (which is the public transportation train) into the city. So in the evening after I was done at the conference at 9:30 p.m. I took the train to the airport and called the hotel to give me a ride. It was already 10:15 p.m and I was waiting outside the arrival area. Well the shuttle didn't come by for another hour. All this time there are vans passing by with some makkal that have the same niram as myself. Karruppu makkal always think I am one of them which is great because I feel safe. But soon some of the vans decided to stop and ask me if I wanted a ride. This was starting to become nerve racking night. I don't know what to say if I should be flattered that people are interested or if I should be scared of being kidnapped!! Whatever the case I decided to play it cool and unlike our desam one can't pretend to take the slipper out and slap anyone for fear of being as I stated earlier kidnapping and other consequences. Well finally the shuttle shows up around 11:15 p.m. and all this time I am trying to appear calm, cool and collected. I get into the shuttle and I am finally letting a sigh of relief when the shuttle stops. I am wondering what is going on. The driver meanwhile is texting to the hotel, at least that is what it seemed like and then eventually gets the van going. Well we get on the main interstate and 5 miles later we get off the exit to go to the hotel. Once the van gets off the exit and pulls into the main road it stalls AGAIN! By now I am convinced that the driver is trying to text his cronies so they can pull some sort of major kidnapping. But then the sane part of me said, NO keep it cool and calm. Since we are stuck at the traffic light at an intersection we were blocking traffic but there were no cars at that time since it was after 11 p.m. Since the van was power operated one could not even put it in neutral and push it out of the road. After 11:45 p.m. it finally started back up again and I reached my hotel. That was quite the adventure. The next day morning I got out of the hotel and decided to not take the shuttle but drive the car to the airport, park and take the public transportation. Well the car decided to stall now for the first time, once again at the traffic light!! But I started it back up again, gave it full throttle, floored the gas pedal and made it to the airport. I made it to the conference and decided to come back early and check the car out but it was fine and the rest of my trip was OK. But it is nerve racking to be in such states. Once again these things get you closer to God!!

Brucella or malta fever

In saudi arabia, it is very common to see a case of Brucella in camels and sheeps( in humans also).  I encountered a case of Brucella in one of our camels which came positive for Brucella melitensis on two occasions, with a titre of 1/160, the shecamel was checked twice within a week and both came with same titre(1/160).  The treatment of choice in saudi is giving Oxytetracycline LA on alternated days for 15 days and Streptomycin injection for 8 days on alternate days.  This is a very painful procedure for animal, handler and vet. From third injection the animal becomes so violent that it is risky for the handlers and vet to approach the animal. But this treatment was going on since last twenty years.  I doubted this and tried with Enrofloxacin+Streptomycin injection once daily for ten days. Blood was analysed after ten days of the last injection, the titre is 1/80.  I hope i will succeed in this line of treatment.  Bhai and Jahir can try this on camels in Qatar(you can call KUMARAN'S TREATMENT METHOD) and give me feed back on this.If you have time, Angela and Deepa can get some references on this.

கரையான்:இல்லை. ஏன் அதையே எப்போதும் கேட்கிறாய்?
காதலி:என்னை முத்தமிடுவாயா?
கரையான்:வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கும்போதெல்லாம்..
காதலி:என்னை அடிப்பாயா?
கரையான்:என்ன விளையாட்டு இது? நான் அப்படி பட்டவன் இல்லை.

INFATUATION

இன்பாசுவேஷன் என்ற நிலையை கடக்காமல் எந்த ஆண் மகனும் வந்திருக்க முடியாது என்பது எனது ஆணித்தரம்மான நம்பிக்கை, அதனால் எனக்கு ஏற்பட்ட இந்த உணர்வை இங்கு பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறேன்....
ஒரு கால கட்டத்தில் பார்க்கும் பெண்ணை எல்லாம் காதலிக்க தோன்றும், அதை விடலைப்பருவம் எனவும் குறிக்கலாம், அவ்வாறு நான் காதலித்த பெண்கள் எண்ணிக்கை கண்டிப்பாக எண்ணில் குறிப்பிட முடியாது.  திருமணமான புதிதில் எல்லார் மனைவிகளைபோலவே என் மனைவியும் "என்னாங்க காலேஜில காதல் கீதல் செஞ்சதுண்டா" என விளையாட்டாக  கேட்டாள். "இங்க பாரு இப்படி மொட்டையா கேட்டால் என்னால் பதில் சொல்ல முடியாது, நான் பள்ளியில் எட்டாவது படிக்கும்போதே இதை தொடங்கி விட்டேன், கல்லூரியில் என்றால் எந்த ஆண்டில் எந்த trimester ல், mid-term test- க்கு முன்னரா, அது முடிந்தா, என தெளிவாக குறிப்பிட்டு கேட்டால், நானும் சரியாக கூற முடியும், இப்படி பொத்தாம் பொதுவாக கேட்டால் என்னால் கூற முடியாது" என கூறினேன், அதற்கு பின் அவள் அது பற்றி கேட்கவே இல்லை, " நான் மட்டும் தான் அவர்களை காதலித்தேன், அவர்களில் ஒருவரும் என்னை காதலிக்க வில்லை" என்பதை பின்னர் அவளுக்கு எடுத்து கூறினேன்.  இதயத்தை திருடாதே படத்தை பார்த்து விட்டு "இதயத்தில் ஓட்டை இருக்கும் பெண்ணாக தேடி அலைந்து பலரிடம் திட்டு வாங்கி கொண்டது கூட இன்பாசுவஷன்-தான். நம் கல்லூரியில் பெரும்பாலான காதல்கள் ஜாதி பார்த்தோ, ஊரை பார்த்தோ, வசதிகளை பார்த்தோ தான் பெரும்பாலும் அமைந்தது என்பது என் கருத்து, சில நேரங்களில் IAS, IPS, atleast ஒரு VAS என்ற அம்சங்களால் அமைந்தது என்றும் கூறலாம்,  ஆல் இந்தியா டூரில் எடுத்த புகைப்படங்களை நம் பாய் போட்டதில் என் மனைவிக்கு மிக சந்தோசம்,"என்னங்க இவ்வளவு கொடுமையா இருக்கீங்க நீங்க, நானா இருக்கவே உங்கள கண்ணை மூடிகிட்டு கட்டிக்கேட்டேன்", இல்லைன்னா உங்க நிலைமை ரொம்ப கஷ்டம்தான்" இதுதான் அவளுடைய கமென்ட். "ஏதோ இப்பதான் நான்  உங்கள கொஞ்சம் பட்டி பாத்து, டின்கேரிங் வேலையெல்லாம் செய்து கொஞ்சம் அழகு படுத்தி இருக்கேன்" என்கிறாள்.

என் இனிய தோழர்-தோழிகளுக்கு,
பட்ட மேற்படிப்பு ஆராய்ச்சிக்காக ,வெளிநாடு செல்வதால், இன்றிலிருந்து வரும் 03-01-2011 ,[ஜனவரி மூன்றாம் தேதி வரை] பாயால் ப்ளாக் செய்யவோ ,சாட்டிங் பேசவோ ,இயலாது என ,என் இயலாமையை கண்ணீர் மல்க தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.
எப்போதும் போல் ,திரும்பி வந்தவுடன்,எல்லா போஸ்டிங் களுக்கும் ,தவறாமல் கமென்ட் எழுதுவேன்.

WHY

When my heart is filled with searing pain

I feel like screaming out in vain

My eyes   are dry of tears

my heart is filled with fears

I look at myself in the mirror

 and scream to my Maker above

All this chaos has to have a cause

give us reasons to think and pause

When our life is full of grief

when our soul has lost all belief

all that is left to say is

I know I will go upto heaven’s tip

and the only question on my lip

will be why oh why why,  why?

There are reasons we cannot perceive

we just should gracefully receive

what is known to be our lot

and let all the regrets drop

and join our hands upto our Lord

and cry why oh why why why?
