Here are some pictures of the frozen lake with people ice-fishing and skating today, Jan 4, 2011. I also posted a picture of the lake from October 2010. I think ice-fishing is crazy where people sit out in the middle of the frozen lake after making a small hole in the ice with an agar and then putting their line through and hoping some fish will get the bait. Since these ice fishermen are in the middle of the lake the wind is usually whipping around causing it to be colder than what it normally would be, temperatures mostly in the single digit range. The craziest part of all this: they catch the fish and let it go. Now some of the fishermen like their comforts so you will see a tent, heater a small TV all cozily seated and then ice-fishing.
Ice-skating on lake can be dangerous sometimes because the freezing of the lake is not always even. I have also seen kids on the frozen lake with their bicycles sometimes, talk about super crazy!

What will happen to those fishes which were caught and left in the lake. Fishing hooks hurt the fish's mouth and if they are left in the water again they die. The lake looks beautiful in fall than in winter. Nice pictures.

Regarding the fish hooks -
I believe that usually the fishermen take the hook out of the fish and then let them into the water and so they are supposedly OK. I obtained this information from reading on the web. Another opinion states that some of these hooks are supposedly digested by their stomach acids and they pass it via their digestive system eventually. But not all fish have powerful stomach acids to digest the hooks.

பதிலளிநீக்குDuring the peak of winter like it is right now, our high temperature today was 22 F (-5 C) and the wind chill was 7 F (-14 C) and this sort of temperature continues for a while a few days or so then even large bodies of water such as this lake (close to 5 square miles) freezes quite thick. Rivers don't freeze that easily because of running water but in our area it sometimes does. But when people walk on ice when it hasn't frozen completely (thin ice) then accidents do happen and sometimes they are fatal. This happens when one doesn't wait long enough for the lake to freeze through a few inches.
