Our neighbor's yard is covered with more than a foot of snow with her dog (he has Huskie, Collie and other breeds in him; he is a good 130 lb mutt and stays out even at negative temperatures and loves the snow). He has us trained well where everytime we see him he gets treats.
The pine tree behind our home is covered with snow. It is a massive tree close to 200 feet tall.
Snow covering the woods at the front of our house. The roads were cleared by the snow plough.
Gujili.. Nice photographs. You did a good job registering the seasonal difference visually in the last 3-4 months These pictures are strange for me as I have not exposed to such a climatic condition so for.Witnessing only in movies and channels. You can detail little more about your day to day life during these days, how other creatures get protection for their survival..etc Chocks
Hey Chocka - I love the snow and it looks beautiful from my window but living in it is not that fun. We were actually spared and only got close to 12 inches but other places up North and east got 30 inches in one day! The first time that I ever saw snow was in September 1992. I was mesmerized and told everyone that I can live in this forever; I played in it and rolled in it. The second time it was nice, by the third time it started to get annoying and then every time it snowed I would be saying "when is this %$#@ ever going to stop"? Well it didn't until May of the following year! Where I live now it doesn't snow as much, it is more tolerable. Our winters still start from November and goes until April, but we get a break and it doesn't snow continuously. Now I believe in making the best of life however it presents itself so I do run in the snow, snowshoe and cross-country ski in it and enjoy it. There is nothing like going for a hike on the trail covered in a foot of snow with the evergreen tree branches laden with snow and it is deathly quiet everwhere. The whole landscape is blanketed in white, all the dirt hidden and just the serene quiet scenery with not a soul around. I don't like driving in it as much even though I am used to it. Gujili
Yup, I had the same experience with snow,Manish and I threw snowballs at each other like in the movies the first time I saw the snow. Then walking two miles each way in the snow with bad shoes and freezing toes reduced me to tears. Now we are used to it.It is part of our life. Neal waits for the school to close on heavily snowing days.Like Gujili said snow is really beautiful to look at.My favorite is when snow is followed with freezing rain, all the trees and bushes get covered in ice and look like they are made of crystal. That is a breathtaking sight. Ice is gorgeous too. Actually here in PA is the first time I have seen frozen waterfalls. We have a state park 30 miles north of us that has a conglomeration of 33 water falls all scattere within a few miles of each other. I saw at least 3 of them frozen, we could only get to 3 of them since the trail was icy. Unless one had crampons you couldn't go further. I have not seen frozen Niagara falls as commented by our stars earlier; I bet it would be breathtaking! I have seen a documentary of it on PBS where they had shown part of the falls that were frozen. We are spared.

It looks beautiful. We are complaining even for the 2 degree C here. Life is hell if it is even less and for six months in a year.
